March 21 has declared by United Nations as International Forest Day. World Forest Day is designed to draw attention to the importance of forests in our lives, to think about the problems that plague forests, the importance of forests for climate change. Forests cover about a third of the earth’s land area and are called the lungs of the world.
In commemoration of the International Forest Day on March 22, 2021 team of Panevėžys vocational education and training centre organized online activities via Zoom platform for the students and teachers participating in the Erasmus + strategic partnership project “Green Europe. The project participants were also introduced to Lithuanian forests, the national Lithuanian tree, and after that they checked their knowledge in the Kahoot quiz. The winners of both quizzes will be awarded with symbolic prizes, which are sent to the winners from Romania and Portugal.
With the help of the Mentimeter program, students also shared their thoughts on what a forest is for them and most of the times participants mentioned that the forest is life, beauty, relaxation, peace and tranquility for them.
